the girl behind the camera...
When I was 18 I spent my hard earned money from babysitting and my job at the movie theater to buy my first SLR FILM camera! (that'll age me just a bit for ya!) That's where my photography passion started turning from a point and shoot camera hobby, to intentionally beginning to grow into a photographer. Years later in 2005, I began taking clients and using that good 'ol film camera to photograph families in my hometown in Colorado. After a break in business, I decided to go all in and in 2014 Heartwing Photography was born while living in Maryland. People often ask "why Heartwing?" I wanted my business name to mean something to me and to be different. So while praying and brainstorming, I found myself drawing a butterfly with hearts in the wings. Sure, that might sound cheesy but I really believe it was God showing me that there was something special He wanted to use my business for. "See, I am doing a new thing!" Isaiah 43:19 says, and that's exactly what I needed at that time of my life. To remind me and others that like a butterfly, there's hope in the newness of life and seasons.
I was incredibly blessed during my first 7 years in business in Maryland with amazing clients, but the beach and Florida had long been calling! My husband and I took a huge leap of faith in 2021 and moved our young family down here once our older son graduated high school and went off to college. We travel back to Maryland often to continue working with clients!
My life has been spent working with kids in many capacities, and pouring into the hearts of families has become my passion.
My goal is to create a session for you that will make you feel comfortable and enable you an hour to just connect and enjoy the family you've been blessed with. Authenticity in your images will come as you love on your kids and let me guide you through to capture moments you will cherish.
We'll laugh and play, and I'll embarrass myself in anyway necessary to help draw out some magic from your crew!

A tad more about me...
I'm an introverted goofball!
It took me awhile to realize that I can love people and be outgoing but still be an introvert. I love my alone time with myself and family, small group coffee dates over a large dinner party, and I love connecting with people and learning their stories. I actually love speaking in front of people. But my recharge comes from quiet time alone!
I'm a dance teacher
One of my greatest joys in the past 10 years has been teaching dance to young kids and watching their love for dance and performing be sparked and inspired! I grew up dancing, singing and performing and it's deep in the core of who I am. I'm praying for God to keep opening doors for me to release all the gifts He's wanting me to use.
I'm a momma and it's literally all i ever wanted
I got married at 36 and was blessed with becoming a stepmom to an amazing son, and after dreaming of being a mommy for 33 years, I had our daughter at 37 and then our youngest son at 40. It's a testimony to God's faithfulness as my heart ached for years as I waited for the right man God had for me and to step into the roll of motherhood. I spent my life loving on other people's kids and to now have my own is a gift that I can never take for granted. It's HARD work, and I've needed more grace in these past 7 years than ever before in my life. If you feel like you're in the struggle with balancing life and parenting- I'm RIGHT there with you!
